Thrive (verb): 1. to prosper; be fortunate or successful. 2. to grow or develop vigorously; flourish. 3. Advance; make steady progress. 4. grow.
When we are growing in Christ, we need to keep moving forward. When we are not growing, we are dying, and when we are not going forward, we are going backwards. We need to stay close to God. He is with us in everything.
18 But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.
~2 Peter 3 (NIV)Christianity is not just saying that you are a Christian. It's about saying "I know Jesus, and He will NEVER give up on me." Things are going to be offered to you, but don't let anything come between you and god.
How we can thrive in God:
- Trials. 2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. 4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. ~James 1 (NIV)
- Temptations. These take the focus off of Jesus. How we handle temptations determines how much we grow. 13 No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it. ~1 Corinthians 10 (NIV)
- Time. Spend time in His presence: read the bible, pray, discipline yourself and spend time with Him. You'll never be the same as you draw closer to God.
